American Signature / Value City Furniture
I entered the furniture industry when a friend called me up looking for someone who knew a particular layout program, Quark Xpress. I knew the program very well since I had previously worked at a newspaper and at a direct mail house in the prepress department. I started working at Value City Furniture part time to help them out when they were in a difficult situation. Before long, they persuaded me to come on full-time and my responsibilities grew to encompass layout, copy writing, some merchandising of ads, printer proof approval, photo shoot creative briefs and photo approval.
In my time at Value City Furniture, the American Signature retail brand was launched and the corporation renamed itself as American Signature. We distributed one circular a week per store brand (Value City Furniture and American Signature Furniture), often with multiple versions for each store brand. The American Signature circulars were my primary design responsibility. Here are a few samples of the circulars and magazine ads I created.
